Privacy Policy — CSULB ProfCheck

CSULB ProfCheck is a Chrome extension that shows Rate My Professor ratings next to instructor names in MyCSULB's class search results. This page explains what the extension does and does not do with your data.

What the extension reads

When you view MyCSULB class search results, the extension reads the instructor name text already visible on that page. It does not read grades, financial holds, personal identifiers, or any other content on MyCSULB.

What gets sent, and where

The instructor name is sent to Rate My Professors' public API to look up that instructor's rating, difficulty score, department, and review count. That's the only outbound request the extension makes. No other page content, and no information about you as a user, is sent anywhere.

What the extension does not do

• No accounts, sign-up, or login
• No collection of your name, email, student ID, or any personally identifiable information
• No tracking of pages you visit, clicks, or browsing history
• No ads, analytics, or third-party trackers
• Nothing is sold or shared with any party other than the Rate My Professors lookup described above

Third-party services

Rating data comes from Rate My Professors. Their handling of API requests is governed by their own privacy policy, not this one.

Changes to this policy

If what the extension collects or sends ever changes, this page will be updated to reflect it.
